Red Dragon Fruit

Red dragon fruit, Hylocereus costaricensis, is a tropical fruit belonging to the cactus family Cactaceae. Known for its vibrant red flesh and mildly sweet taste, it is widely cultivated in warm regions, including India.

The fruit is rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, fiber, and essential minerals, making it highly beneficial for health. Its juicy pulp with tiny edible seeds is commonly consumed fresh, in smoothies, salads, and desserts.

This crop grows best in warm climates with temperatures between 20–35°C and requires well-drained sandy soil. It is drought-tolerant and needs minimal water, making it suitable for semi-arid regions. Dragon fruit farming is gaining popularity in states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Karnataka due to its high market demand and profitability.
